An Overview of Flooring for Your Home: an interview with Decker Warner of By Design Flooring

By Decker Warner

Tell us a little bit about your company and its foundation.

I purchased the company from my employer in March of 1980. I have alway stayed true to my idea to be honest and to stand behind all that we do.This has served us well as we never advertise and have a good business with return clients and referrals.

What are some of the most popular flooring options out there right now? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

The most popular flooring at this time is hardwood which comes in many colors and textures such as hand scraped, wire brushed in varying widths. Carpet is also very popular with Mohawks Forever clean which employs Nanotechnology to make it as close to stain proof as possible. We have this in many colors and styles.

What flooring option can one add to their home that will really increase its value?

The value of a home has always been increased by installing Hardwood and natural stone flooring. We have a large selection of Hardwood flooring . The stone is not one of our specialities.

Although hardwood flooring is sometimes advertised as the best option, what can adding a carpet to my home do for the overall environment?

Carpet adds an accoustic value and a warmth that it can only do.

In your opinion, why is it important to utilize the services of a design consultation?

A Designer can help you avoid very costly mistakes. Also they are able to choose the best colors and textures to increase the overall beauty of your home.
