Clayton Campbell: Rolfing Structural Integration

By Jake Levin

There are a number of reasons why Clayton Campbell decided to dedicate his life to being of service.

At 22 years old, living in Dallas as a semiprofessional drummer and investor in a bar, he took up yoga. Five years later, he began life as a body worker, in part because of his physical ailments from drumming, which he said is hard on the body.

But Clayton's inspiration came from wanting to heal himself without the benefit of traditional western medicine, which caused him to take up Rolfing Structural Integration. He now owns a studio in both Santa Monica, Calif., as well as New York City, where he visits quarterly. His company is simply called "Clayton Campbell: Rolfing Structural Integration."

Through yoga and Rolfing structural integration, Clayton has bettered both himself and countless others.

"Being a drummer is hard on the body and both modalities showed me a way to drop into myself to learn and heal my body," Clayton said. "They both made me a much better musician, person, and continue to inspire me daily."

With just one session of Rolfing, a person's posture and structure can change. Circulatory, respiratory, digestive and neurological functions can benefit from the ease of chronic stress patterns while simultaneously enhancing energy and postural efficiency.

Clayton said that bodywork and yoga have allowed him to express himself in a humble and meaningful way which serves his community. In order to ensure his practice would be top-notched, he sought out the very best teachers and learned from them. It's something he still does to this day, so that he can be the most efficient practitioner he can.

"It is my pleasure to listen and meet clients where they are and allow them to gain knowledge and feel confident about the work they receive," Clayton said.

Clayton teaches yoga on the principle of compassion. He ensures that one listens to their body, not overexerting themselves to the point of becoming injured. So long as they follow that guideline, the rest takes care of itself.

"The body will listen and respond to direction and in return heart, mind, and body will work as one to create a healthier student," Clayton said. "I am here to allow people to find their greatest truth within themselves and through that a healthier community can arise."
