Culinary Concepts Is Lessening their Environmental Footprint One Plate at a Time

You can't think of Culinary Concepts, in San Diego, without thinking of Kathy Koenig. Koenig is Culinary Concepts' founding member and CEO and has been the driving force behind the company's success and growth. A master at large-scale event organization, Koenig's extraordinary sense of timing and sharp skill for on-the spot decision-making has been the vision and direction of the company for over 35 years.

"In keeping with her personality, Kathy's relationships with employees, clients, and event partners alike are based on respect, fairness, and honesty," Melissa Fazio, Director of Marketing, said.

Taking Koenig's personality traits and transferring them into the business, Culinary Concepts does things a little differently than other catering companies. Firstly, the company has gone solar. The solar panels produce emissions-free electricity and reduce the company's demand for electricity from the utility provider. Making the decision to switch to clean energy was simple for Culinary Concepts. They wanted to mirror their clean food principles into other aspects of their business. Solar seemed a logical choice.

"Our menus are free from chemicals and additives and our clean solar energy is reducing our environmental impact by decreasing carbon emissions and waste," Fazio said. "We believe our culture of positive social action is in line with our customer's values and expectations."

Culinary Concepts is passionate about only using quality, organic, locally sourced, sustainably harvested products in their menu choices. When it comes to each client, the company designs a custom menu specifically for them by listening to the client's needs and expectations. The perfect menu is then crafted featuring the season's most vibrant and freshest quality ingredients.

"We deliver on our promise of delicious food, contemporary presentation, and stellar service," Fazio said. "We listen: We want to learn about you, because after listening to your needs and expectations, we can create and execute your event, while you sit back and relax."
