Elysia Life Care Listens and Works

By Jake Levin

From the perspective of Dr. Joseph Clarke, modern functional medicine is Eastern medicine with enhanced diagnostic techniques.

Clarke weaves the teachings of both the old-school and new-school approaches at Elysia Life Care in Santa Monica, Calif., where he and his staff listen first and then work to empower every client to take ownership of both their health and health goals.

"We are inspired to change the conversation surrounding 'healthcare' from one of reactivity that is in all actuality 'sick care' to one of real heal care, where one creates the conditions to be well and stay well," Clarke said.

Clarke, who is the owner of Elysia Life care, comes with many certifications. He is DAOM certified, licensed acupuncturist and diplomat of oriental medicine.

Since opening in 2015, Elysia Life Care has operated with only one mission in mind: to get its patients and clients the results they are seeking.

The practice ties the worlds of Eastern and Western medicines together in several ways. In classical Eastern medicine, Clarke said, subjective diagnostic techniques were applied to tailor diet and support physiological function with herbs. Elysia Life Care still uses subjective diagnostic techniques such as assessments, but goes a step further by taking into account the objective data from blood chemistry and nutrient testing.

Reproductive and fertility health programs are also offered at Elysia Life Care. Applying Eastern and Western approaches, Clarke and his team help every couple create the conditions to become pregnant, maintain a healthy pregnancy and recover postpartum.

"Preparing for a child and welcoming that child into the world is a daunting task and we pride ourselves in being able to support our reproductive patients achieve their dreams," Clarke said.

According to its website, www.elysialifecare.com, what makes Elysia Life Care's clinicians unique is their steady commitment to the practice of mind and body fitness and discipline. Increased mental and emotional stability and focus are just some of the applicable benefits from the programs Clarke and his staff oversee.
