Everyone Loves Tacos At I Love Tacos

No matter what fills the shell or tortille, I Love Tacos can cover all your taco-based catering needs. Based in San Diego, I Love Tacos has been faithfully serving the community a smorgasbord of delights since 2008. Edna Rocha owns the company and coordinates its events. She answered some questions for Southern California Homes about her journey to being a business owner and what makes I Love Tacos so so good.

What ​was the inspiration behind opening I Love Tacos Catering? How long have you been in business?

I Love Tacos Catering is a family-owned-and-operated business. Edna and Luis Rocha with their three kids came to San Diego from Mexicali Baja California. Since he was a cook in Imperial Valley, he started working as a chef at a local catering company, and Edna started working as the manager assistant in the same company. They learned the basics from the business in the two years they collaborated there. After being laid off and left with no job, they started their catering adventure with little to no money and after three months of advertising they got their first three clients who were key to their success. Our inspiration has always been good, traditional, authentic Mexican food.

W​hat would you say it is about your tacos that make them different from other restaurants and caterers?

Since 2008 we have seen growth in our company. We see new clients each year and we also have faithful clients that hire us every season. We have been in their weddings, sharing their kids birthdays, feeding guests in funerals, celebrating their companies success. On the other hand we have also seen many new taco catering companies in the market. But what makes us stand over the others is our standard of excellence. We will never offer our clients, less than the best in quality and service. Our food is made with quality ingredients and always made from scratch. People rave about things as basic as beans because everything is made fresh for your event the same morning. We have also learned to fulfill special requests like vegan or vegetarian options. None of our food has chemicals because nothing comes from a can.

​I saw that you have several five star ratings on Yelp. What would you say it is about your customer service that makes you stand out?

This excellence food quality and service has earned us good reviews on several websites like Yelp where we have some five stars and this a key for future clients that look for prior experience and opinions. But the main success happens when people at an event rave about our food. That makes our clients happy because they enjoy the party and delivered great food to their family and friends.

What is your personal favorite menu item you offer and why?

The most popular item on our menu is the taco bar. Especially in San Diego, there is is a trend for Mexican-themed parties and weddings. This is because of the proximity with the border and the fact that a great percentage of people in San Diego will have friends and family coming to their event from other parts of US and other countries. They usually want to show them how fun is Mexican culture and how delicious our food is. Tacos are always the star at any event.
