Hapa Yoga Provides for Families in Chula Vista, California

By Paul Rowe

Founder Tina Knight Ardolino opened Hapa Yoga after discovering the need for a yoga and fitness studio that provided reliable childcare. As a new mom, Tina sought to create a place where growing families could continue their yoga practice and fitness routines while adjusting to parenthood.

In September 2012, the flagship Hapa Yoga studio opened its doors to tremendous success in Mission Valley. It was the first yoga and fitness studio in San Diego to provide childcare. Three years later, Tina opened Hapa Yoga's second location in Chula Vista. Both studios have thrived, successfully achieving Tina's original vision beyond all expectation.

The masterminds behind Hapa Yoga call the studio's culture the "Hapa Ohana," meaning family. Upon walking into Hapa Yoga studio, yoga enthusiasts are presented with a warm and positive atmosphere. From the front desk, to the childcare staff, all the way down the line to the teaching staff, Hapa Yoga's personnel are consistently nurturing, caring, and supportive. Both clients and staff here are friendly and treat one another as extensions of their own family, often referring to Hapa as home. Here, parents and kiddos alike enjoy the life altering educational benefits of yoga.

"At Hapa Yoga, we highly value the importance of introducing yoga to our youth as it has a positive impact on the stages of child development, both physically and mentally," Director of Marketing and Studio Manager Jessica Rettig said. ""Yoga keeps kids active in a fun way through yoga postures geared towards children. Yoga practices introduce calming techniques to relieve stress and encourage positive and mindful thinking. Kids are guided through breathing exercises and playful postures that strengthen their growing bodies, improve their motor skills, and increase their attention spans."

Through mindfulness and breathing techniques, children are exposed to wonderful self-regulation methods that they wouldn't otherwise encounter. Through yoga, children gain self-confidence and establish strong foundations for fit and healthy lifestyles at a young age.

"At Hapa Yoga, we offer something for everyone no matter what stage you are in life," Tina said. "With over 50 different classes per week at EACH location and on-site hourly child care, Hapa Yoga uniquely differentiates itself from any other studio or gym. We provide clients with a variety of yoga and fitness classes for all levels including Heated and Non-Heated Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Mommy & Baby Yoga and Fitness, Kids Yoga, Barre, Sculpt, Mat Pilates, and TRX boot camp."

Luckily for parents in Chula Vista, Hapa Yoga is outfitted with a dedicated childcare staff to look after their little ones. Through unparalleled wellness and community support, Hapa Yoga provides the whole family with a home away from home.
