For the past two years, Vincent Wong and his wife Gina have been running their dream business, Bright Spot Fitness, out of Pasadena, CA. The gym, originally started out of Vincent's garage, aims to create a whole-body fitness experience for clients, incorporating coaching and nutrition to "pave a clear path towards a healthy, vibrant and balanced life."
According to the Bright Spot Fitness website, here's what clients can expect: nutrition programs specific to their bodies and goals, group training sessions, individual training packages and lasting results. In fact, the company name came from the idea that through physical fitness and proper nutrition, clients are able to grow both in and out of the gym. Little things, like being strong enough to play with their kids, or big things, like hitting a new personal record, become feasible.
"The aesthetics and strength are a nice plus, but what really hooked both of us was how it makes you feel to take charge of this one area of your life," Vincent says. "Most people come to us wanting to lose weight and some wanting to get stronger. What almost everyone discovers along this journey is that they must step outside of their comfort zone, overcome fears and then discover that they are capable of so much more than they imagined...as [clients] grow so [do] their comfort [zones] and the next time they reach their boundaries, it becomes a little easier to trust their capabilities and make that leap. These small victories are what we call bright spots and thus our business name Bright Spot Fitness."
Vincent hosts contests at his gym facility to keep clients motivated. There are often workout challenges during the week and weight loss challenges around the holiday season. Online forums are created for members who participate so that they can share tips, ask questions and keep one another motivated. Typically, each challenge has one winner chosen at the end and prizes can include free workout gear or discounts on their monthly membership.
Vincent's business was truly born from passion and he maintains that every day with Bright Spot Fitness. After years of working as a corporate employee for Panda Express, he suffered a spine injury and was sent to rehabilitation. During this time, he learned not only about his body, but about how bodies function in general.
Vincent then knew he was meant to be in the fitness industry. He pursued fitness coaching, while still working at Panda Express, and assisted with fitness classes for company employees. He started his own gym out of his garage with his wife. Eventually, he quit Panda Express and dedicated all of his time to Bright Spot Fitness.
